Whether you live where cable and fiber never arrived, or you just want a dependable backup connection, Starlink has changed what’s possible for wireless internet. It delivers broadband from SpaceX’s satellite constellation and, according to Starlink, is available in 160+ countries, territories and other markets.

Why Starlink?
- High-speed internet, even in remote areas: Starlink says it delivers speeds up to 400+ Mbps in most places, enough for 4K streaming on several devices, video calls and working from home. (Speeds aren’t guaranteed and can be slower during congestion.)
- Plans for different needs: Residential plans (100 Mbps, 200 Mbps and Residential Max) with unlimited data, plus Roam plans for travel, camping and boating.
- Built for bad weather: Starlink is engineered to melt snow and withstand sleet, heavy rain and harsh winds.
- Independence from local providers: a connection that doesn’t depend on local cable or phone lines, useful when storms knock other networks out.
- Easy setup and a 30-day trial: plug-and-play setup, and Starlink offers a 30-day trial with a full refund if you’re not satisfied.
New hardware: Starlink V5
Starlink’s newest home kit, the Starlink V5, launched in the US in July 2026. Starlink describes it as smaller and lighter, with greater power efficiency than the V4 kit, and with speeds up to 375+ Mbps. Notebookcheck reports it measures about 12 x 15 in, weighs about 2.4 lb (versus about 6.4 lb for V4), and averages roughly 35–50 W of power, about half of the V4. It’s currently available only in select areas, with more coming as production ramps.
